Vieversys

Vieversys (Lithuanian for skylark) is a fast, elegant macOS media browser written in Objective-C + AppKit — yes, hand-written AppKit in this economy, because that's what "fast and elegant" is actually made of.

Three-pane browsing of local files and SMB network shares with credentials and bookmarks, a virtualized high-performance thumbnail grid, instant previews with zoom/pan/rotate/mirror, an EXIF/IPTC/XMP metadata inspector, slideshows and synchronized side-by-side compare. Decode is dual-pipeline: QuickLook first, FFmpeg with VideoToolbox fallback, with progressive directory streaming, neighbor preloading and memory-pressure-aware caches.

Keyboard-first, deeply internal, and under active development — built for triaging tens of thousands of photos on a NAS without a spinner in sight.
