K Commander (kc)

Every sysadmin eventually writes a file manager. It's not a choice; it's a life stage, like a midlife crisis but with more function keys.

K Commander is mine: a cross-platform, two-panel, keyboard-driven file manager in the sacred Total Commander tradition. The core is a virtual filesystem layer with SFTP and FTP support — including editing files directly on the remote system as if they were local, which is the single feature that makes a sysadmin's heart rate drop by 20 bpm. Internal file viewer, archive handling, custom columns, extensibility planned from the first commit instead of bolted on in shame later.

Under active development, currently in advanced alpha and used daily as my own primary file manager. Named after myself, because if you're going to spend hundreds of evenings on a file manager, you should at least get naming rights.
