EFN.lt — Free Unix Shells

EFN.lt gives people around the world free Unix shell accounts — compilers, dev tools, IRC, per-user web hosting, documentation, the whole classic experience of logging into a real multi-user system and feeling briefly like it's 1997 in the best possible way.

Somebody once gave me access to a machine I had no business touching, and it rerouted my entire life. EFN is me paying that debt forward, with interest, to strangers.

It's also a masterclass in operating a public system: registration abuse, resource limits, and the eternal truth that if you offer something free on the internet, the internet will immediately test your firewall rules and your patience, in that order.
